A Few June Scrapbooking Ideas

Let's start with the obvious ones first, everyone knows June as Dads and Grads month, keeping that in mind, here are a few ideas for you to scrapbook around these topics.

Grads

If your child is graduating this month, How do YOU feel about it? Scrapbook and journal your feelings about your little one becoming a graduate.

College Graduate? How about scrapbooking some childhood photos of your child and their childhood dreams of what they wanted to be when they grew up and compare that to what they studied or will study in college.

Did your child follow in the family footsteps? Did they start off on a brand new path of their own, scrapbook and jounal about their path, how do you feel about it?

Dads

Get your husband to play along if he will, how does he feel about being a dad? New Dad? Have him journal about his feelings on Fatherhood and scrapbook it for your him and your kids

Is your hubby a great dad? Journal about it, consider comparing and contrasting him with your dad, or his.

Scrapbook a photo of you and your dad, when you were younger, Write a letter telling your dad how you idolized him when you were a young girl, or boy.

38 ways to use ribbon in your scrapbooking

I love the versatility of ribbon when scrapbooking. Ribbon can be used to draw focus or just add some embellishment and bling. Many of you may be looking for ways to use up all those ribbons you have stashed, especially those that are retiring. I hope this article will give you an idea or two, to use ribbon in your scrapbooks!
1.Tie a knot in a piece of ribbon, then trim the tails at an angle (to prevent them from fraying) and use a Mini Glue Dot™ to secure the knot at the corner of a photo
2.Use the same method next to your journaling.
3.You can also wrap ribbon around a photo or around your page as a border, securing the ends of the ribbon to the backside of the photo or paper with tape, this will add an interesting corner to your photo or page.
4.You can also attach ribbon with brads (make a tiny hole through the ribbon before securing it) or even staples or clips for an artsy look.
5.Tie onto a tag, photo mat, border, or photo as an accent.
6.Use with a hole punch to make a booklet.
7.Use to secure a fold open photo frame
8.Tie it to paper clips or other fancy clips to add interest to your design
9.Staple on the edge of your photo, journal block or title
10.Places strips of ribbon behind your photo to use as a mat
11.Attach a ribbon charm and use as a long border
12.Thread through eyelets and tie as an accent
13.Tie onto a slide holder for a small picture frame
14.Tie onto each end of a metal label holder
15.Tie small bits of ribbon onto a larger piece for a unique border design
16.Stamp words and sayings or even images onto your larger ribbons and use as a title
17.Weave ribbons together like a basket to create interest and texture in your layout, use this a as a mat, a background, a border
18.Tie many ribbons around a plain spiral notebook to create an interesting journal or scrapbook
19.Use ribbon to secure several paper bags, envelopes or any other paper scraps together to create a small scrapbook
20.Tie around jump rings of small, shaped scrapbooks to spice them up a little
21.Fold and secure your ribbon with snail adhesive to make your ribbon form the letters of your scrapbook title
22.Use ribbon and your paper scraps to create an interesting journaling tag for your layout

What a beautiful week-end

Well the batteries in my camera are dead, so I will post some photos of the projects I made this week-end once they are charged up.

Spent Friday working on the reception invitations for my sister. They are not done yet so we are going to try and get them finished up tomorrow evening.

Spent Friday evening stamping up with friends and getting creative. These ladies can be so creative and gave me some fantastic ideas.

Hope everyone has been outside enjoying the lovely weather, it looks like it is only going to get better from here. I can't complain, I love the warmth and seeing the sun.

Tomorrow I have been asked to speak to one of the local Guide units about my career, so will have fun doing that and hopefully the girls will enjoy!

So I must start off by apologizing for not posting in quite some time. Lots has been happening and yes I have allowed some time to be creative.

Hope you all had a wonderful Easter and the Easter Bunny found you all in good health and spirits! We went up to Ottawa to spend the week-end with my sister-in-law and her family as well my in-laws flew in from Nova Scotia. So it was nice to have part of the family together and the snuggle time with my niece was nice too!

The exciting news is that I now have a craft room. Dave got tired of me working on our kitchen table or in the living room so w converted part of the laundry room into my craft room. It is great to finally have this space, since first off I can actually see what I have now and I don't have to clean everything up at the end of the day if I am still working on a project.

Now for the creative stuff. I made a crib size quilt using the big shot for embellishments. I got the idea at the Regionals in London and just had to try it out. Unfortunately after I got 3 butterflies on, my sewing machine decided to bite the dust. So I guess I will have to sew the rest on. I have a feeling that could wait for a bit.

I was at the Welcome Wagon Baby Shower in Richmond Hill last night and met lots of mom's to be.

While preparing for the event I made some thank you card bundles.

I also put together some fun make and takes, which the kids all seemed to enjoy!

I have also posted the information for my upcoming class on Saturday May 2, 2009 to my Stampin' Up! website and will post a photo and the details above.

Above are some of the sample cards and projects at regionals. Thought I would share with you so you can all see why I felt so motivated after. I actually spent the week-end working on a quilt after seeing the beautiful quilt that Linda Hanson had made using the Big Shot.

The Stampin' Up! Regionals in London were a blast! I had so much fun, am feeling very motivated and creative and met some great ladies.

I travelled down Friday afternoon with 2 other members of Caroline's team and we arrived in time for the fun stamping evening put on by Heather Summers at Kings College. We had a lasagna dinner and then got to make some beautiful cards and a box using the 5th Avenue Florals set. Here is one of the cards we made, isn't it nice!

Saturday saw us heading over the London Convention Centre for a day of stamping and ideas! I did not manage to get all of my make and takes made (so will have to work on those later this week) since I was too busy meeting people, swapping and checking out the WOW! Projects at the rear of the room. The presentations were so inspirational and left us all feeling creative!

This was the result of frustrations at the end of a long day. I was having trouble getting my card to look the way I wanted to, so I let Dave play around with my pieces I had put together and we ended up coming up with this together. I hand cut all of the cupcakes out and crimped the cup part.

I will post some of the cards we made and Ideas I picked up throughout this week.

Sunday had us leaving Toronto early to head down to Kincardine for a brunch at my parents to celebrate my sisters marriage. We celebrated with my grandparents, parents, aunt and her partner, my brother and his girlfriend. It was the first time we had all been together since Thanksgiving so was definitely overdue.

After eating we sat down all of us ladies and planned out my sisters reception invitations so we could get the materials ordered to get on with making them. We chose to go with turqoise and chocolate brown with a beach theme. I can't wait to see what they will look like once they are made up. Don't worry, I will post a picture once we get them done.

Once I get caught up on finishing my make and takes and getting the reception invitations made I will then have to really focus on the scrapbook I told my sister I would make for her for her wedding gift. They keep bumping the date of the reception closer and I want to have it done for this so I will have to get my butt in gear. Any ideas or layouts people have would definitely be appreciated so that not all of my pages end up looking very similar. I am all about variety and with this having been a spontaneous wedding on the beach in Cuba, anything goes!

My Big Shot Arrived!

My big shot arrived yesterday evening and I had to open it up and try all of my new dies right away. It is so much fun and I can already picture all of the fun things I can make and how this will make my scrapbooking more interesting. The exciting thing is that many of the dies can be used on other things besides paper, such as fabric, wood, etc, how fun is that?

So the rest of this week I will be preparing my swaps for regionals this week-end in London. Once I get them made up I will post a picture.

Very Happy News in our family this week-end. My sister just returned from Cuba and while they were there she got engaged (to a long term boyfriend) and married all within the week. We found out today when they got home and she called us to let us know.

I know I am definitely enjoying this weather, especially with working outside a portion of my days. This was the first day in a while that I actually wanted to be working outside more rather than less.

So I haven't gotten a post up here every week so far, but I will continue to try and improve on this. This past Friday and I finally took the leap and decided to order myself the Big Shot. I can't wait for my new toy to arrive and start trying out the new dies and texturz that I also ordered. I will begin to use this tool for some of my classes and workshops, once I get the hang of it, since I am sure you will all want to see what this is all about.
This week my goal is to try and figure out what I am going to make for swaps for the regionals coming up on March 14 in London, ON. This will be my first regionals, so I am looking forward to the experience and learning lots of new skills. It will be a fun getaway and the other demonstrators on my team that I have met so far are lots of fun!

So my goal for this year is going to be to try and post at least once a week and try to have a new sample each time.

As well I will now be offering a monthly class at my place and will post the upcoming class at the beginning of each month.

The Love You Much Bundle Class a couple of weeks ago went very well and we had a fun day of stamping!

My next class is called "Crazy for Cupcakes".

The London Regionals are coming up in March and I can't wait! I am looking forward to learning new ideas and meeting more demonstrators.

It has been a while since I last posted. I was busy working up in cottage country for the better part of this past week. Was hit with some of the snow they got, but was lucky enough to be south of Orillia by the time the worst of the storm hit on Friday.

This means that I made it to Provincial Annual on time. I had a fantastic week-end meeting new friends and learning new skills that I will be applying to my unit program planning.

Last night we were entertained by the Drum Cafe. They were so much fun and we had lots of laughs and fun. Who knew that drumming could be so much fun!

So it has been a while since I last posted. I have been putting my new supplies to good use. I made a number of bookmarks last week-end towards my swaps for Provincial Annual coming up.

Tonight was Brownie Enrollment. The girls were so excited to say their promise in front of everyone. It was great.

Have just about finished my skirt. I only have the bottom hem left to finish off. It is exciting that the skirt is definitely wearable and I learned so many thing during my classes.

I have put together some of my ornaments from the Star Bright Kit and from the new Country Living kit. They are as nice as they look in the pictures and again they are quick to put together.

I received my latest order from Stampin' Up! and boy was I excited to check out all of the fun new stuff. I put together my Create-A-Calendar

and found it to be a quick easy gift to make for someone. I also started making some of the items in the special Country Living Kit

There are some great supplies in there, that I didn't even realize I would get. I will be busy for a while with all of my new papers, stamp sets, punches, etc. The next task will be where to store it all.

I am hoping to start working on my snowflake garland

this week if I have time, although I have some sewing to catch up on as well before my last class Saturday morning. So the garland may have to wait until the week-end.

What a nice week-end we are having. These beautiful fall days bring back fond memories of raking leaves into a pile to be able to jump into them when we were younger.

My skirt is almost complete. I will work on the lining this week and then next Saturday we will do the finishing. I had to take the skirt in at least one size this week, but it fits nicely now.

The Toronto Sailing and Canoe Club Banquet was last night. It was a great chance to catch up with friends and we had a great dinner.

Happy Halloween! There were some fantastic costumes out there tonight, but sadly we didn't see very many children coming by to trick or treat. We could not have asked for nicer weather. It is hard to believe that we had snow only a couple of nights ago.

Tomorrow is my second last sewing class and hopefully we will be able to take my skirt in enough to fit properly as at this time it is about 2 sizes too big. Funny how following the pattern I end up with a bigger skirt than I had aimed to make.

We got to see some beautiful new pictures of our little niece that my sister-in-law had professionally done. The photographer took some amazing shots, so now the big problem is narrowing down the ones we want to order (I would love to get a copy of all, but the wallet doesn't agree with that!).

It has been a busy week so far. Last night I went up to Barrie after work for a meeting to plan the summer program for Doe Lake Girl Guide Camp. We worked into the wee hours of the morning (1:30 am) getting ideas down on paper. It took us a few hours to get home since the snow was coming down straight at us along the 400. We pulled off at Bradford and then made our way over to Yonge to head the rest of the way home. It made for a very late night and quite the adventure.

Tonight was our Brownie Halloween Party! There were some very creative costumes. Another unit had invited us to join in their fun and the girls had a great time. We started off with a mummy wrap contest and then moved on to some science experiments and bobbing for apples.

Sunday evening I managed to get a large portion of my skirt finished so it is giving me more time to do work on some of my other crafts.

I am looking forward to my latest order from Stampin' Up! to come in as I ordered an ornament kit, some great Christmas stamp sets, felt snowflakes and lots of paper and punches. Can't wait to have fun with all of them. I am planning on making some garland with the snowflakes. I am also waiting for my calendar kit, so it will be fun to decorate a calendar for the coming year. It may even end up being one of my Christmas presents this year.

So far this week-end has been very crafty for me. I decided to try and finish our wedding scrapbook as we were married 2 1/2 years ago so it is about time I finish it. I was playing with flocking last night and had quite the mess going!

This morning at sewing my skirt finally started to take shape, so I am starting to feel like I am getting somewhere, and that I might actually get this finished by the end of the classes. After sewing I went over to Caroline's to make 10 different Christmas Cards (posted above). It is always fun stamping over there and we made some beautiful cards.

What a nice sunny day we had today. Maybe fall is on the return?! I have posted one of the fun cards I made this week-end using some of the stamps in my starter set. The first one uses the cracked glass technique which is always a fun one to make. I like the effect it gives to the flowers on this card. I am having a bit of trouble uploading the others right now, so I will try and upload them later for all to see.

I am headed off to Brownies tonight to start the Cross Canada Challenge with the girls as well as talk about what they want to be when they grow up. We will be making some posters to advertise Canada. I am sure it will be messy but also lots of fun and hopefully the girls will learn a thing or two in the process.

Well Fall is finally here and looks like we might even skip over it with these cool temperatures. Now is a good time to pull out all of the craft projects that were put aside during the warmer months and start tackling the projects again. I know I will be spending more time inside where it is warm, which is great because it means more time for crafting!

Spent the morning at the Creativ Festival and got some great new ideas. It definitely put me in a creative mood. There were some beautiful things! Picked up a number of magazines which I will be reading through over the next couple of days to scan for more ideas.

Today I had a crafty day. I started my day attending a sewing class and then this afternoon was my first demo and we had fun making some birthday theme cards. It is a beautiful fall day, the kind of days that make you enjoy the fall with the smell of leaves in the air!

Went for a nice evening stroll with my Brownie Group tonight to spot various forms of art in the community and play some neighbourhood bingo. It started to softly rain during the last half of the walk, but that didn't dampen our spirits. We sang some songs and had a few laughs.

What a fantastic Thanksgiving week-end. We couldn't have asked for better weather and the tree colours were beautiful. We spent the week-end celebrating with family up in Kincardine. We definitely took advantage of the nice weather and spent as much time as possible outside in my parents yard. It was great to catch up with the family and we ate lots of great food.
